Monogram Vinyl Make-Up Bags

This was my first time sewing with vinyl. After seeing the end result I can definitely say it will not be my last! You could choose to leave the bags clear, but aligning cotton fabric underneath adds a whole other level of difficulty cuteness to the bags! Trust me, the difficulty is worth it!
Here's what I used:
  • Simplicity Pattern 9949 Bag E
  • Transparent Vinyl Brillante (comes on a bold in most craft stores in different thicknesses depending on what kind of project you're making).
  • 7-12in coordinating zipper
  • 1/4 yard material
  • 1/4 yard contrast material
  • Sewing Machine, notions, coordinating thread
  • OPTIONAL: Colored adhesive vinyl used for Cricut machines (I created the monograms using the Cricut Alphalicious Cartridge.) I cut the letters out with slick side of the vinyl sheet sticking to the mat, this way the adhesive was on the front side of the letter when removing the paper backing. I then applied it to the inside of bag between the clear vinyl and the fabric with the letters actually adhering to the clear vinyl. Do this step before closing your bag with the zipper.

Homemade Glitter Ornaments

If you haven't already tried this idea, I highly reccomend it. I have been making these ornaments for three years and they have turned out so cute!

You Will Need:
  • Clear glass ball ornaments (found at any craft store, and I used the 5in. balls).
  • Pledge Floor Wax/Cleaner
  • Saran Wrap
  • Assorted glitter (super fine glitter works the best)
  • Paper/plastic funnel
  • OPTIONAL: vinyl, cricut, grosgrain ribbon, hot glue gun

DIRECTIONS:
  1. You simply remove the metal topper, rinse them with alcohol and let them dry over night.
  2. After they're dry, pour in about a tablespoon of pledge floor wax. Cover the topper hole with saran wrap and shake to coat the inside with the pledge wax. Poor out the excess.
  3. Next add your glitter (it's easier if you use a funnel) to the inside of the ornament. You'll need about a tablespoon to adequately coat the inside. Cover the hole with saran wrap again and shake to evenly coat the entire inside. Dump out extra glitter.
  4. Let dry over night, then replace the metal topper! Voila!

I used acrylic paint inside a few of them and then added Christmas sayings I'd cut out on my cricut. This particular one was on the Cricut Christmas Cheer cartridge. The bow on top is just assorted grosgrain ribbon hotglued to the metal topper!

Trees, truffles, taffy, and tangled lights!

40 Days until Christmas!!!! With that being said its time to bring out the glitter, hot glue guns, and start brainstorming for decorations and personalized gifts! It's the most wonderful time of the year!

My little helper, Muffy is adjusting to the Santa suit.... she wanted to be Rudolph but the antlers just would not work with her elf rabbit ears.  I just couldn't wait any longer to put up my tree after hitting the Christmas jackpot this weekend. My mom, grandmother, and I scrounged up every pepperment, taffy, cupcake, and candy ornament ever made to decorate my new tree! You could go into a diabetic coma just by looking at it! It's every sweet tooth's dream!
Happy Christmas Decorating!
